Tasting Notes
The 2011 Quarry Road Riesling is back to the tightly wound, lean and ethereal style for which the vineyard is so well suited, delivering a wine with low alcohol (10%), and a touch of residual sweetness that goes virtually unnoticed thanks to quivering acidity (20 g/l r.s., 10.5 g/l TA). There's a palpable chalky sensation on the palate from neither acidity nor tannins, but what I can only surmise is minerally dry extract. The finish reverberates on beautifully. I'd hold this for 1-2 years minimum to flesh out the palate and harmonize the green apple citrus flavours into a more complex ensemble. Score - 92. (John Szabo, M.S., winealign.com, Aug. 2012)
