Tasting Notes
Casa Real Reserva Especial is from a combination of the oldest vineyards that Santa Rita has planted on the alluvial terraces of its property in Alto Jahuel, in Alto Maipo - Carneros, planted in the early 1970s, and Pobalaci�n, in the early 1980s, both with very low yields. Aged for 18 months in barrels (70% new oak), this is a Chilean classic. It has undergone major changes since the 2017 vintage, however, both in the harvest date (earlier) and in the extraction (now softer), and this has resulted in a slight shift in style toward redder fruit and a more delicate body. In this 2018, the strength of the tannins is contained and polished, surrounded by a layer of red fruits and herbal notes that are typical of the area.
