Taking a cue (or rather, a 'Y') from Ch�teau d'Yquem in Bordeaux, who have dubbed their dry white wine 'Y,' the team behind Quinta da Romaneira has named this dry red wine 'R.' Local grapes Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinto C�o are blended with Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo) and Syrah to create a complex, dark-fruited, spicy wine with the structure to pair with pepper steaks, meaty stews or firm cheeses.

Tasting Notes
... It is charming and elegant, a pattern that is developing nicely with this wine. There is not great mid-palate concentration, but there are some underlying tannins that provide grip and intensity on the finish, and bode well for the wine's development. It is a very graceful second wine in the mid-palate. Full of flavor, too, it grows on you. There is some obvious acidity around the edges. Although this is the wine from Romaneira that is supposed to be more approachable, it has a serious backbone and should hold well. Drink now-2018. Score - 89.
