A laundry was opened to clean the clothes of the men who came through town . The owner quickly realized his back rooms could have another use , as a bawdy - house and gambling den . The winery ' s name is a tribute to this unsavoury history . Their Bordello red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot .
