The Gavi appellation is in the southeast corner of Piedmont, where hillside vineyards of the Cortese grapes are planted on calcareous-marl soil that inspired the name 'Le Marne.' (That little factoid is for the dirt nerds out there.) The wine itself is perfect for summer with its bright aromas of blossoms and peaches, fruit-driven flavours and vibrant acidity. Enjoy it this summer with some freshly caught fish or a seafood salad.
