Description
Carol's Vineyard is named for Jerry Lohr's late wife and is blessed with climatic conditions and loam- and gravel-rich soils that are relatively similar to those found in Bordeaux. This makes the Paso-Robles-based Lohr family's Napa property particularly attractive to Cabernet Sauvignon. This Cab is always classically styled, with excellent character and a complex array of cassis and dark fruit tones. The 2013 will reflect the even greater concentration imparted upon the vintage by California's ongoing drought conditions. Cellar this for up to 5 years or enjoy with grilled beef or lamb.

Tasting Notes
Lilac dipped in boysenberry adds aroma and flavor to silky tannins as chocolate-kissed cedar, dark berries, black plum, and spice create texture on the palate. As the wine opens up, cherry bark and earthy tones gravitate to the front of the mouth, leaving a lasting impression. Three dollars from the sale of every bottle of this wine - named in honor of Jerry Lohr's late wife, Carol Waldorf Lohr - support the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Score - 95.
