Gambero Rosso in their 2012 edition awarded this wine Two Glasses ( out of 3 ), which is its ' very good to excellent ' rating . Barbera d ' Asti was awarded its DOCG in 2008 . The wine must be 85 % Barbera , with the rest made up of Freisa , Grignolino or Dolcetto . To be a Superiore , it must be aged at least one year in the winery ( six months of which must be in oak or chestnut ), and exhibit a higher natural alcohol by volume than the regular Barbera d ' Asti . Look for blackberry , pomegranate and spring flower aromas and flavours . Enjoy this fresh , vibrant wine with grilled lamb chops .
