TASTING NOTE : The 2009 Syrah has a slightly subdued nose that demands coaxing from the glass , but there is good definition once those aromatics kick into life with dark blackberry and a touch of camphor . The palate is medium - bodied with succulent tannins , good acidity and a lush texture . Very clean fruit with a lovely , ripe silky finish of black cherries , black olive and a twist of sour lemon lend it an edge . This is a very succinct , high quality Shiraz from Hemel - en - Aarde .
