The Margaret River is a coastal wine region, in fact it is surrounded on three sides by ocean, and so benefits greatly from the moderating maritime influences. The climate is not unlike that experienced in Bordeaux and so, not surprisingly, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot both flourish here. Over the last 50+ years, Margaret River's renown for creating wines that manage to possess impressive elegance and muscle has grown significantly, and it is now seen as one of the premier wine-growing regions in the world, and Driftwood Estate is one of the most highly rated wineries in the region.
