Tasting Notes
Most of the fruit for this Merlot was grown in the Alexander Valley, where the cooler climate lends itself to elegant, complex and savoury wines. Ripe blackberry, plum and dark cherry fruit are at the fore here, with cassis (perhaps courtesy of the 14% Cabernet in the blend; there's also 1% Malbec) adding an additional layer. The winery's chef, Kolin Vazzoler, suggests pairing the wine with roast leg of lamb with plum mostarda, or pumpkin pie with blackberry compote. (VINTAGES panel, May 2016)
