Tasting Notes
The 2015 Riesling Grand Cru Kessler Cuv�e H. W. (Heisse Wanne) opens with a lovely, clear and pure bouquet of perfectly ripe Riesling flavors intermixed with crushed stone aromas. The wine is very precise and well defined, and is surely Dirler's greatest Riesling again, and in 2015 that's nothing less than a mystery. From almost 60-year-old vines on red sandstone soils in a fully south-facing vineyard, and from the dry and hot 2015 vintage, this wine is so subtle and smoky that you could think your neighbor is smoking a joint. Full-bodied, dry and piquant, this is a great and coolish terroir wine with fascinating precision, piquancy and lingering salinity. Riesling lovers shouldn't miss it! Picked 21 September.
