Red Sancerre is made from Pinot Noir and is produced in quite small quantities. Though the region is now most associated with Sauvignon Blanc, Sancerre was red-wine country prior to the large-scale replanting that followed the phylloxera scourge of the late 19th century. These crisp, fine Pinots suggest aromas and flavours of cherry, beetroot and underbrush and pair well with classic Pinot nosh such as duck, salmon, or lamb chops.

Tasting Notes
When you see 'Sancerre' on this label, your mind will no doubt jump to flinty Sauvignon Blanc, but hold your oysters; this is a red wine. Sancerre produces limited quantities of this style and always from Pinot Noir. Sourced from Kimmeridgian soils, this will have the classic Pinot notes of cherry and beetroot along with crisp acids and fine tannins. Pair with roast beef.
