About this product
Moutai ( also spelled Maotai ) is believed to be the most popular liquor in China . Some say , after Cognac and Scotch , it is the most popular in the world . Made by distilling fermented Sorghum ( a grass that is a distant cousin of sugar cane ), it is generally enjoyed neat , especially to toast a bride and groom at their wedding . A new generation is creating cocktails with it , such as the ' Mao - gerita ', a mixture of Moutai ( 1 . 5 oz ./ 45 mL ), Cointreau (. 5 oz ./ 15 mL ) and a squeeze of lime juice in a shaker .
